A New (Not) Normal

Years ago I attended a retreat where the speaker encouraged us to document (photo) the hard things so that we can look back later and praise God for what He brought us through. I took this photo last night through my tears as Brady sobbed and hugged Cyrus before I left to take Cy to the ER. You see, Brady already knew what we also knew; Cyrus now has type 1 diabetes. This disease has wreaked havoc on our lives. One child with diabetes in 2008 was hard, two children in 2014 devastating, three children in 2019 indescribable. In all honesty my faith is lacking and my heart is grieving. Someday I want to be able to look back on this photo and be able to praise God for bringing us through this, but today I’m struggling to trust God’s goodness. (I should also mention today is Brady’s birthday. It’s not exactly happy but it will forever be memorable) #type1diabetes #brothers #makeinsulinaffordableforall #grieving#protector #foreverbonded #12yearsold #valentinesbaby #ironic
